The coal mines in Whitehaven had inclines, the Corkickle brake being of considerable length.
This incline ran from Ladysmith colliery along the cliff to Wellington Pit. It also joined the Saltom pit waggonway which carried Gypsum. It was a self acting incline and some of its route is still visible, and is a footpath.
Most of the line is still visible, and a large part is a footpath, lots of remains the incline are easily found, which is not surprising as this line was still running until 1986.
