The Treffrys Tramway served the granite quarries and china clay works in the area and it had an incline used to carry material to build the Treffrys viaduct. The incline was 1:10 2871ft in length and rose 325 in height, it was powered by a waterwheel which is still in place - well all but the wheel itself. It was built in the period 1839-1842.
