Wild Boar

General Information

National Grid Ref NY 764015

A tempoary hillfigure constructed for October 2006, just south of Kirby Stephen, Cumbria on Little Fell. It was constructed was part of an arts project and this figure was constructed by Jan Hicks. It was made of over 500 fleeces. The figure was constructed using the grid system. It is 120m long in outline only.

Folklore says that the last wild boar was killed on the fell in the sixteenth century by Lord Musgrave and this was part of the inspiration.

I visited the figure which I think looks more like a lizard, and had been on the hill for three weeks and the weather had dirtied the fleeces a bit.
