Great Orme Tramway

Upper Railway NGR SH766833

Lower Railway NGR SH778827

The lower track was started in 1901 and finished in 1902, but completion of the Upper line was slower until the Lower section was making money, it was opened a year later. It is a funicular operated as two funiculars, the upper and lower sections. They operate with a fixed winding engine and two counter balanced cars. They run through public roads and have request stops so must be able to stop, the driver of the car has no control but signals to the winchman when to stop. The line runs every 20 mins daily from 10am - 5pm, Mid April to End of September.
